Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLOR CONTACT LENS FOR ME?

FreshLook® color contact lenses offer a wide palette of beautiful colors, which you can see for yourself in the FreshLook® COLOR STUDIO. Color selection depends on your natural eye color, hair color, skin tone, and the type of change you’d like. Once you’ve made your color selection, visit your eye care professional and ask for a free* in-office trial offer.

CAN FRESHLOOK® COLOR CONTACTS EITHER SUBTLY ENHANCE OR DRAMATICALLY TRANSFORM MY DARK BROWN EYES?

Yes. FreshLook® COLORBLENDS® contact lenses can change the color of brown eyes. Colors include FreshLook® COLORBLENDS® Blue, Gray, Green, Pure Hazel, Amethyst, Turquoise, and Brown, for a subtle, natural change. FreshLook® COLORBLENDS® Honey, True Sapphire, Sterling Gray, Gemstone Green, and Brilliant Blue contact lenses offer a more dramatic look.

WHAT IF I HAVE LIGHT EYES?

We also offer color contact lenses that enhance light-colored eyes. These contacts are specifically designed to work with your natural eye color and provide a beautiful look. Colors for light eyes are FreshLook® DIMENSIONS Sea Green, Pacific Blue, and Caribbean Aqua contact lenses; to enhance and define your eyes. You may also choose from FreshLook® COLORBLENDS® color contacts.

DO FRESHLOOK® COLOR CONTACTS LOOK NATURAL?

Yes, FreshLook® COLORBLENDS® contact lenses’ patented 3-in-1 technology blends 3 colors into 1 for a natural appearance.

WHAT IF I HAVE PERFECT VISION?

FreshLook® color contact lenses are also available for people who don’t need vision correction. But because contact lenses are considered a medical device by the FDA, they require an exam, fitting, and prescription by an eye care professional even if you have perfect vision. We provide free* in-office trial contacts to eye care professionals, making it easy for you to try on different colors to decide which one you like best.

WHAT IF I HAVE A STRONG PRESCRIPTION?

We offer a wide range of color contact lenses available. Ask your eye care professional if color contacts are available in your prescription.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FRESHLOOK® CONTACT LENSES AND AIR OPTIX® COLORS CONTACT LENSES?

Both brands are color contact lenses made by Alcon. FreshLook® COLORBLENDS® and AIR OPTIX® COLORS both have 3-in-1 color technology for naturally beautiful eye color. DO YOU SEE THINGS IN COLOR WHEN YOU WEAR COLOR CONTACTS?

ARE FRESHLOOK® COLOR CONTACTS DISPOSABLE?

Yes. Only your eye care professional can determine the best wearing schedule for you. FreshLook® COLORBLENDS®, FreshLook® COLORS, and FreshLook® DIMENSIONS color contact lenses are designed for daily wear with nightly removal and proper cleaning and storage for up to 2 weeks before disposal. FreshLook® One-Day contact lenses are designed to be worn daily and thrown away. You can purchase 1 color, 2 colors, or more, and wear them to match your mood or outfit. Color contacts can be worn full-time or in conjunction with your eyeglasses or clear contacts.

FREQUENT REPLACEMENT CONTACT LENSES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DISCARDED AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME (1 DAY, 1 WEEK, 1 MONTH, etc). CAN I CONTINUE TO WEAR THEM IF THEY ARE STILL COMFORTABLE AFTER THE RECOMMENDED WEARING PERIOD?

Contact lens materials vary, and contacts should not be worn for longer than the wearing period recommended by your eye care professional. It is important to replace contact lenses on a frequent basis to help prevent discomfort, dryness, blurred vision or allergic reaction that can result from a build-up of protein and lipid deposits on the contact lenses.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DISPOSE OF MY COLOR CONTACTS?

Alcon recommends replacement of FreshLook® COLORBLENDS®, Freshlook COLORS®, and FreshLook® DIMENSIONS contact lenses at intervals of every 2 weeks. Alcon recommends replacement of FreshLook® One-Day contact lenses daily. The eye care professional may determine a replacement schedule greater or less than these suggested intervals based upon clinical examination of the patient, professional judgment and clinical experience with the contact lenses because individual response to contact lenses vary. Please consult the package insert for full wearing guidelines.

MY EYE CARE PROFESSIONAL RECOMMENDED A DIFFERENT WEARING SCHEDULE FOR MY CONTACT LENSES THAN WHAT IS RECOMMENDED IN THE PACKAGE INSERT. WHICH IS CORRECT?

It is customary for a manufacturer to include a recommended replacement schedule for its products in the product package inserts, fitting guide booklets and in some cases on the packaging itself. Such recommendations provide a reference point for those eye care professionals who are looking for such information.Alcon supports and recommends frequent replacement of contact lenses. Because each patient’s eyes are different, only your eye care professional can determine the appropriate contact lens replacement for you.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY COLOR CONTACTS?

Care for your color contacts as you would for any other soft contact lenses. We recommend OPTI-FREE® PureMoist® Multi-Purpose Disinfecting Solution. Your eye care professional will instruct you on how to properly care for your contacts.

IS IT OKAY TO PLAY SPORTS WHILE WEARING CONTACT LENSES?

Every sport is different. Talk to your eye care professional to select the best type of contact lenses based on your particular sport or activity. Contact lenses are not a substitute for eye protection. It is recommended to wear appropriate goggles, masks, etc. when participating in sports.

ARE THERE TIMES WHEN YOU SHOULD NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES?

Your eye care professional can tell you about situations or environmental conditions that may be inappropriate for contact lens wear. Contact lenses should not be worn under certain general health and eye conditions. Only your eye care professional can determine if continued contact lens wear is right for you.

WHO SHOULD NOT WEAR CONTACT LENSES?

You should not wear contact lenses if you:

  • Have an eye infection or inflammation (redness and swelling)
  • Have an eye disease, eye injury or dryness that interferes with contact lens wear
  • Have a systemic disease that may be affected by or impact contact lens wear
  • Have certain types of allergic conditions
  • Are using certain medications, such as some eye medications

IS IT SAFE TO SHARE CONTACT LENSES WITH OTHERS?

No. Don’t share your contact lenses with anyone! Contact lenses, even if worn for cosmetic reasons, are medical devices that must only be worn under the prescription, direction and supervision of an eye care professional. Serious eye health problems may occur as a result of sharing contact lenses.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP WITH MY CONTACT LENSES?

Yes, but try to avoid getting makeup on your contact lenses. Always insert your contact lenses before applying eye makeup and remove contact lenses before taking off eye makeup. If you have sensitive eyes, special makeup for use with contact lenses is available.
